New roof, now what?

A new roof is a valuable investment in your home. Now, make sure you take the 3 following steps to further earn the value your new roof has to offer.

1.-Wind Mitigation Inspection

Contact a reputable home inspector and have them perform a Wind Mitigation Inspection as soon as possible. Not only will this Wind Mitigation Inspection give you peace of mind that your investment was worth it, but this inspection will bring you lots of savings on your home insurance premium. The inspection is a visual examination of the condition of your roof and the techniques (and codes) used during installation. 2.-Set up routine Maintenance

Routine cleaning and maintenance is vital for health, extending lifespan, and the warranties on your roof. Contact your roofing contractor or a trusted, reputable contractor, and sign up with their maintenance programs. Your roof should be getting an inspection every 2-3 years and cleaned, at least, every 2 years. Set it and forget it, they’ll be contacting you when it is time for your next service. (Important to always hire a professional who is familiar with walking on roofs. Future leaks can be caused by unskilled cleaners cracking tile while cleaning.)

3.-Assure your Warranties are Active

Here at IR, we register all of our new roof’s warranties and present your certificates at our final walkthrough and closing, but not all warranties are created equal. Assure you have received a certificate with all of the information in case you have to file a claim. While some manufacturers do not ‘Register’ warranties, most require a registration either mailed in or filed with their online system. Contact your roofing company and double check your warranties with the manufacturer are registered and active, just in case. We handle all warranties and claims for our new roofs, including manufacturer warranties and claims making us one call away in case of an emergency. We will either honor our Workmanship Warranty or help you file a claim with the Manufacturer.
